Last updated September 12, 2026. This page describes how Lore (“we”) handles information on writeyourlore.com. It is written for product clarity, not as formal legal advice.
Lore is a media library and recommendation product. You can track movies, TV shows, books, and games; follow friends; send recommendations; and see personalized “For You” suggestions shaped by your library and preferences.
When you create an account we store authentication details through Supabase Auth (email and/or OAuth providers you choose). Profile fields you set—such as username, display name, bio, avatar, privacy settings, streaming/gaming preferences, and connected account links (for example Steam)—are stored so the product can work for you and, where you allow it, appear on your public profile.
Entries you log (titles, ratings, notes, statuses, lists, favorites, and related experience details) are stored in our database so we can show your library, feed activity, recommendations, and stats. Social features may also store follows, reactions, comments, group membership, and recommendations you send or receive. Visibility follows your privacy and sharing choices in the app.
AI sharing is optional and off until you explicitly allow it in Settings → Recommendations. When enabled, Lore sends Anthropic library titles, ratings, genres, preferences, and previous picks to produce personalized recommendations and taste summaries. Group recommendations also use included members’ names and library signals, and require permission from every included person and the requester.
This permission also covers sending vibe descriptions and book-search queries for optional spelling help, and sending draft reviews, notes, or dictation transcripts when you use Shape or finish dictating. Plain text editing, library tracking, ordinary catalog search, catalog recommendations, group overlap, and group queues remain available without AI sharing. Your browser or device may use its own speech service for dictation.
You can revoke permission immediately in Settings. Lore then stops new Anthropic requests, invalidates recommendation caches, and prevents older queued or in-flight generations from saving results under that permission. A request already sent cannot be recalled. Previously saved taste summaries and text remain until you change or delete them; revocation does not delete your library or withdraw content you have already shared publicly.
Anthropic handles data already received under its commercial API retention policy, including its stated exceptions. Lore does not promise immediate deletion from Anthropic when you turn off sharing. Catalog metadata comes from the media cache and providers listed below.
Lore may record product usage events (for example page paths, search queries, recommendation interactions, feature timing, and similar UAT/product analytics) together with your account and an app-session identifier to improve reliability, recommendations, and product quality. Signed-in users can submit feedback through the in-app feedback form. We do not use that data to build third-party advertising profiles. Reports about abusive users or content are retained for moderation and safety review; blocks are stored so blocked accounts stop appearing to one another in feeds and discovery.
If you enable push notifications, we store a device push subscription so we can deliver alerts you opted into. Optional email notifications and invites are sent through Resend when configured. You can change notification preferences in Settings.
Paid features (Lore+) are processed by Stripe. We store subscription-related identifiers needed to manage access; card details are handled by Stripe, not stored by Lore as full card numbers.
Search, discover, covers, and metadata rely on external catalog APIs. Depending on the medium, that can include TMDB (movies/TV), Open Library and Google Books (books), and IGDB / Steam / RAWG (games). Queries and identifiers needed to fetch titles are sent to those providers; their own privacy policies apply to their services. See About & Sources for provider credits and current-use details.
The app is hosted on Vercel with data primarily in Supabase. Standard operational logs and Sentry diagnostics (for example request errors, crashes, and performance signals) may be retained to keep the service running. When session replay is enabled, Lore masks text and blocks media before replay data is sent.
We use session cookies for authentication. The browser may also store local preferences (theme, caches, analytics session ids) to keep the app fast and consistent across visits.
We keep account and library data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Account. That action removes your profile and account-owned database records, deletes uploaded avatars and covers, and cancels active Stripe billing. Lore is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Lore after an update means you have seen the revised policy.
